Thank You, Gloria Steinem.

There are many things to thank Gloria for, but one is her constant support of young women. Yesterday, in an interview with Katie Couric, she said this:
“If you ask young women if they support the women’s movement, 90 percent do, as compared to about 70 percent of older women. I think young women should sue for libel, frankly, for the misrepresentation of their views.”
Love.
I constantly adore how Gloria not only insists young feminists exist but also insists we be given the space and respect by her generation to do so.
Another favorite Gloria quote on the topic, responding to the oft asked question about why young women aren’t grateful for 2nd Wave gains: “I don’t want them to be grateful. We didn’t walk around being grateful for the vote. I’d rather them be pissed off at all that hasn’t been done – and they are.”
Both are excellent – and true – quotes! Let’s face it – there’s only so many hours in a day, and if we spend our time fighting amongst ourselves about who did what, who’s entitled to what, etc., then that’s time we’re not spending fighting for what actually matters – to all of us.
Amen! It’s nice to see a leader of the movement like Gloria Steinem putting the facts out there. Debate is over. We’re not apathetic – Gloria Steinem said so! :)
